1. Single-Trip Permits

Single-trip permits are valid for 4 days. The load must be non-reducible.

  • Oversize Class A – Max dim: 120′ length, 14′ width, 16′ height, 80.000 Ibs.
  • Oversize / Overweight Class A – Max dim: 120′ length, 14′ width, 16′ height, 250.000 Ibs.
  • OS/OW Class C permit.
  • Mobile Home Class A Oversize – Max dim: 120′ length, 14′ width, 16′ height, 80.000 Ibs.
  • Mobile Home Easy C – Max dim: 120′ length, 16′ width, 16′ height, 80.000 Ibs.
  • Class C Mobile Home.

 

2. 30-Day Multi-Trip Permits

The load must be non-reducible.

  • General OS/OW permit – OS Class A, OS/OW Class A, Cranes Class D – Max dim: 120′ length, 14′ width, 16′ height, 250.000 Ibs.
  • Oversize excluding Cranes and Drilling Class B – Max dim: 80′ length, 12’6″ width, 14’8″ height, 80.000 lbs.
  • Recreational Vehicles Class B – Max dim: 80′ length, 9’6″ width, 14′ height, 80.000 lbs.
  • Overweight I-19 (Sealed Container)– Max dim: 75′ length, 8’6″ width, 14′ height, 83.000 lbs.
  • Houseboat Envelope – Max dim: 120′ length, 16’6″ width, 25′ height, 150.000 lbs. (Limited travel).
  • Oversize Envelope –  Max dim: 120′ length, 14′ width, 16′ height, 80.000 Ibs.
  • Oversize / Overweight Envelope – Max dim: 120′ length, 14′ width, 16′ height, 250.000 Ibs.

3. Annual General OS/OW permits

The load must be non-reducible.

  • Excluding Cranes and Drilling Class B Oversize only – Max dim: 80′ length, 12’6″ width, 14’8″ height, 80.000 lbs.
  • Recreational Vehicles Oversize only – Max dim: 80′ length, 9’6″ width, 14′ height, 80.000 lbs.
  • Cranes Class D – Max dim: 120′ length, 14′ width, 16′ height, 250.000 lbs.
  • Watercraft – Max dim: 75′ length, 10′ width, 14′ height, 80.000 lbs.

4. Annual Envelope permits

The load must be non-reducible.

  • Oversize – Max dim: 120′ length, 14′ width, 16′ height, 80.000 Ibs.
  • Oversize / Overweight – Max dim: 120′ length, 14′ width, 16′ height, 250.000 Ibs.
  • Houseboat – Max dim: 120′ length, 16’6″ width, 25′ height, 150.000 lbs. (Limited travel).

OPERATING TIME: These hauls may occur during daylight hours, from one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset. Continuous travel is permitted for loads/vehicles not exceeding 10wide, 14high, or 10in rear overhang. Loads not exceeding 14 feet wide, 16 feet high, 120 feet long, or 250,000 pounds may travel on Interstates and specified state routes on weekends (except on holiday weekends and in curfew areas), but this must be requested when the permit is ordered and stated on the permit. Loads over 11wide will require one escort from 3 a.m. to noon on weekends, and loads 15high and over will require an escort with a high pole.

Permits are usually valid for four days, 96 hours. Travel is permitted from a half hour before sunrise to a half hour after sunset. Operators of vehicles/loads no greater than 10′ wide and 14′ high are allowed continuous travel day, night, weekends and holidays.

Escorts/Pilot Car Requirements

Width  Over 14′ – 1 or more escort pilot cars

(Some restricted routes may require 2 escort pilot vehicles for over 12′ wide vehicles and some for over 10′ wide vehicles)

Height Over 16′ – Needs 1 or more escort pilot vehicles

Over 17′ – Needs a public utility escort

Length Over 120′ –  Needs 1 or more escort pilot vehicles
Overhang Front or rear 20′ – Needs 1 escort pilot vehicle

SIGNS, FLAGS AND LIGHTS

All overwidth vehicles or loads exceeding 9′ in width must display “Oversize Load” signs. All overwidth loads and vehicles must display red flags 12 sq. ft. or larger on their extremities. Any front or rear overhang should be lit and flagged. Up to 10′ overhang may travel at night but should be flagged and lit. There are no sign or flag requirements for overheight-only or overweight-only loads.

RESTRICTED TRAVEL

Movement is prohibited during inclement weather when, in the opinion of the issuing agency, conditions prevail that would make the movement unsafe. Secondary highways are restricted to 40 m.p.h. and may be posted for a lesser weight. No oversize movement through the greater Little Rock area from 7:00-9:00 A.M. and 4:00-6:00 P.M. on Interstate 30-M.M. 137-143, Interstate 40-M.M. 151-155, and all of Interstate 630. No overwidth vehicle shall follow another overwidth vehicle closer than 1,000′.
