NASHVILLE, Tennessee — A semi hit a bridge in Nashville after which parts of Interstate 40 and Interstate 65 have been shut down.

Reports stated the crash happened just after 12 p.m. Friday in the eastbound lanes of I-40 at Exit 210 for I-65.

The semi, which was hauling a construction dump truck, did not clear the bridge, crashing underneath it.

The roadway in that area for eastbound traffic has been closed.

Authorities also closed the bridge, which is the ramp from Interstate 65 North to Interstate 40 West, south of downtown. The bridge was significantly damaged.

The bridge will not reopen tonight, officials said.

The nearest school, Metro Nashville School experienced delays of buses because of the increased traffic. They asked parents to bear with them and prepare for the delays.

Those areas will be closed for several hours.
