Tesla has been making announcement after announcement regarding new projects they are working on, as well as existing projects and their expected end dates. Recently, they specifically announced that they are accelerating the production of tehri Semi Class 8 trucks and tractors, with a goal for production to be complete by 2026. A senior executive made the announcement in hopes of expanding the excitement and detailing the new offers that have been in the works by them.
Previously, Tesla announced that their Semi brand would be worked on in Reno, with an expected 50,000 models to be made annually.
The Vice President of Vehicle Engineering at Tesla, Lars Moravy, has been the one keeping Tesla Semi’s in the news cycles, as most other members of Tesla’s leadership team, including founder and CEO Elon Musk himself, have barely been discussing updates on these vehicles. Instead, they have been focusing on other projects within the company, with Musk particularly discussing their new humanoid robots, known as Optimus, or more often simply Tesla Bots. Overall, it has seemed as though Tesla as a company has been shifting more away from their vehicles and more into their artificial intelligence work. Moravy is here to assure Tesla fans and followers that that is not true.
Moravy has said that they have “kind of ridiculous demand for the Semi.”
In a recent speech in which he stated there is a lot of demand and excitement for the Semi truck, he also stated that any company that uses semi-truck models currently but does not switch to the Tesla Semi vehicle “will lose.” He described this as an objective fact. Moravy went on to say that they have conducted studies in which every PepsiCo driver who has been able to be behind the wheel of a Semi has said that they no longer want to drive any other vehicle aside from the Tesla truck.
Both Musk and Moravy have described the vehicle as very fast.
Moravy once even called it “maybe too fast.” But nonetheless, the vehicle that has been known to the public since 2017 has officially set its production date goal. Tesla has been known to not have their products ready in time for set goal deadlines, so it will be interesting to see if they can actually pull it off this time.
